More of our day to day

Here's a glimpse at a few of the things you might see at our house, if you stop by:

A dress-up party with a friend.

Emma, Gracie and I always read stories at night in Gracie's bed. This is what Emma did when I said it was time to go to bed.
"Maybe if I just lay down here with Gracie and close my eyes, mom will forget that I still sleep in a crib, in my room..."

Gracie got a baby dinosaur egg for Easter and it hatched!

We've been playing in the backyard again! It's so nice to be out in the fresh air.

Gracie always catches up to Emma, even on her old tricycle, because Emma always chooses the rocking stationary bike :)

Exploring a new dog park with Emma and Bailey.

Just what did Gracie have in mind here? I swear, it ended as a simple arm over the shoulder, but it looks like I caught her in the act of something devious.

We took a break after swimming to hang out in the playplace at Commonwealth (which has basically been dismantled, if you were planning a trip there, I'd rethink it).

There was one toy though, and the girls made the most of it.

Hope you're feeling the same springy, fresh air fuelled happiness we are!

Life Update

What is this, a scrapbooking blog?

I got on a roll, so I have too share some pictures of the kids, just because.

Must keep the Grandmas happy!

I like to call this our Sickie Selfie. We took it on a sick day.... one of many. Blah! Now that it's warm, I have my fingers crossed that our sick days are behind us.

Emma's a rock star in the tub!

Gracie took some pictures of me and Emma. They're blurry, but they still make me smile.

We spent Easter weekend in Lethbridge and had a ton of fun, but I forgot my camera, so this is all I got on my phone.

The hunt was on! The girls did great.

Emma strutted all over the gym the kids searched in.

See her cute barrette? It was a chick. Thanks Auntie Meagan!

And just because these two are such cuties.

Treasured Memories Kit April

I got the Nautical line from Fancy Pants Designs this month and I loved it!

It's not my usual colour palette, but I do love the nautical theme. I didn't play it up a lot on these layouts, just used the water connection.

I also used light blue at the top, middle, and bottom of the page to lead the eye to the bottom and used the adventure quote on the bottom to draw the eye across the page.

I love the sayings from Amelia Earhart in this line. I've always liked her quotes.

I edged everything with a thin, grey pen line, including the photos to give the eye a visual break between the busy patterns.

I printed most of this quote with my printer, adding a few words with the great alphas that come with this line. If you want to do something similar, set up your quote in your word processing program and choose the words you want to showcase. Make these white and much larger than the rest of the text so they don't show when you print and you leave plenty of room for your stickers.

The bright colours work well with the kid's lifejackets in these photos.
I used a light grey cardstock as a background, and red cardstock as a mat. I knew I wanted to scatter some of buttons and stars within the title, but I wanted to bring in some more of the red from the background as well. I used two different sized hole punches on the grey cardstock so the red would show through in three spots.

The chevron design was made from strips of patterned paper I trimmed off, and stitched together. I haven't had my sewing machine out in awhile, and it felt good. I will be doing it more often.

I can't wait to deliver these to Treasured Memories. I got a little bit of scrapbooking mojo from working with this kit!

Heidi Swapp Mini Album Share #3

So many pages to go through, I know, but these are some of my favourites, and this is the last one.

Love that bald head!

Doilies and vellum are the perfect layering elements for everything.

My first attempt at the watercolour script brush text.... perhaps I should've started smaller, but I like the saying, and it looks good in the book. I'm keeping it. Scrapbooking isn't about perfection anyway.

Instagram adds so much to little photos.

I saved lots of  little spots to add journaling into my mini. I like to tell a little bit of the story or at least capture where the photos were taken because things I thought I'd never forget, are suddenly starting to get foggy... I blame my children.

I loved this sticker from American Crafts: "I'll be yours and you'll be mine," so cute.

Edmonton is Festival City, and we took part in quite a few festivals and celebrations last summer. I think we'll add a few more to the list this summer.

I like taking a few pages in mini albums to take a breather. I cram so many photos and elements into an album, sometimes it's nice to just have a simple page like the one above.

The end.

Hope you liked.

I enjoyed getting a big stack of photos off my computer and into an album and it got me excited for another great Edmonton summer, so come on summer.... or spring.... or just stop snowing....

Heidi Swapp Mini Album, Share #2

Here are a few more of the pages in my newest mini album.

I love the transparent sheets they included. They're nice and thick, so you get the great see-through effect, but they're not flimsy.

This page is my favourite. The fold out with the scallop edge, the polaroid cutout, all of it!

I added a little file folder to this page, because I took lots of photos of Gracie playing in the sun on this day and wanted to include them all.

What a ham! Maybe that's why I'm so behind on my scrapbooking, when I pull the camera out, she performs and I can't help but take a hundred pictures.

I used a grey pen to doodle a lot of frames around photos throughout the album. See the thin frame around the pictures on these pages? I think it kind of makes them pop a bit.

I made my own polaroid frame on the right page, then made it a pocket and tucked a few tags in behind.

Another cute cutout and a tag tucked in behind Emma's smiling face.

Come on summer! I want to take more sunshiny pictures and play in the backyard, instead of watching it pour rain out the window...

New Heidi Swapp Mini Album

I found this little Heidi Swapp album and loved it, but I wasn't sure what to put in it....

I decided to take a big run at my photos and put all of our pictures from the backyard, parks, and generally shots taken around Edmonton from last summer in it.

I love it, and I jumped 3 months ahead in my bid to catch up on my scrapbooking!

Hurrah!

Lots of these pictures were taken with my phone, so I was happy to print them small, but they were great memories that I wanted to record. This was the perfect solution for me.

All of the pages were different shapes and sizes, with fancy edges and cut outs.

Not sure if you can see the overlay page on this one.

Another cutout with a cute polaroid frame.

This was just a quick look at the first few pages. There's more to come!

This makes me look forward to another summer of backyard BBQ's, splash pool fun, and relaxing outside.
