Roadside Cheerleaders

Brad was in a bike race last weekend, so I packed up the girls and we headed out to watch him.

As in all great spectator sports, we found a nice piece of ditch to set up shop in for two hours.

Gracie was the lookout.

Because we were in the bottom of a sloped ditch, it was hard to see when the riders were coming. Luckily, Gracie enjoyed running to alert us.

"They're coming!"

Good. Only 250+ cyclists broke into 10 groups of riders, each doing between 2 and 5 laps by us. There were a lot of alerts.

It got old after awhile. Luckily, Brad yelled whenever he went passed, so we set up our picnic and waited with our clackers.

 Dedicated fans.

Then, we started to explore the ditch, finding ants, and bugs, and all kinds of treasures.

And then it turned into Selfies

and Usies

And is there one of Brad? Any of the riders? Not a one....

Did we accidentally pack up and head back to the car before he finished... yes. Oops. I could've sworn he was in the middle of that pack of 25 men clad in spandex and helmets racing past us, but alas, he was not, and he had to call us from the finish and tell us where he was.

Next time, we'll do better.

Yummy!

Come on over to our house. We like to eat!

Yummy colourful snacks and delicious baking just makes me happy, so I had to share.

But really, that's not scrapbooking or cute kids, what's it doing on this blog?? Who knows...

So, here's a cute kid eating (do you see the tie in?)

Emma's first wrap was a hit, but it didn't last long...

Neat idea mom!

"I think I'll take a bite from the middle and see what happens...."

New Toys!

I've been stalking a company called Hazel and Ruby since Winter CHA, but they weren't available anywhere nearby, so I drooled from afar. They make these great stencils that you can reposition and reuse over and over and for some reason, I was intrigued. (Sidenote: go to their blog and you can take part in a blog hop to win some of their fun product for yourself!)

I finally found them here in Edmonton (and at 65% off!! Huzzah!) and rushed out to pick some up. Later that night, I locked myself in my dungeon and made this fun sign!

Note, if you're going to try something new, maybe start smaller... I jumped right in because I can never just make a small little plaque, or put a monogram on something, I've got to put a long, wordy quote on a canvas that just barely contains it.

Oh well, it worked and it was enjoyable.

I've had this project in my mind since I took this photo, about 2 years ago. I blew it up during a Black's sale a few months ago and mounted it on painted plywood and have been wanting to make a sign with this saying to go with it.

Two years later.... ta-da!

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I tried to get a bit of an ombre affect with the lettering, and I kinda like it.
PS. Have I told any of you that I was a whole decade ahead of the ombre trend?
Yep, that's  right. My grad dress was ombre.... I'm just saying, I saw that one coming.

Spring Wall-Hanging

I made something new to hang on my walls!

This may look familiar.... two Christmases ago, I made this for Treasured Memories as a Christmas display.

I made all of the pieces interchangeable, except the 'so blessed' plaque on the bottom, because that is appropriate year-round.

So... two years later, I finally got around to changing it up, so it can hang in my house as a spring decoration!

I made a new 4 x 4 hanging piece,

found a new quote, and decorated the background page in the 12 x 12 frame, got a picture of my two girlies, for the top frame, and hung it up!

I really am so blessed, no I can display my wall-hanging for another few months, to help me remember to count my blessings.

Bright Colours

Hope you've recovered from the long weekend, and are happily looking forward to the last weekend in May.

Where has the time gone?

Here are a few more layouts for you to peruse while you think on that one.

Enjoy!

Nice and bright and summery. Perfect for this weather we've been having.

Hanna Farmer's Market

Today's the day!

If you're in Hanna, stop by the Round-Up Centre from 10-2 today and say hello to my mom.

She has a bake table set up to raise funds for the Gutsy Walk for Crohn's and Colitis taking place in Hanna, June 8.

Delicious squares, cupcakes, cinnamon buns, buns, focaccia bread, and so much more.
I'm drooling just writing this....

Look for the red bunting around her table and say hi from me!

Love this Hat!

How cute is this kid?

Adventuring with bottle and Beary in the backyard.

She doesn't like it as much as me...

Grams' visit

Two weeks ago (?) Grams came for a visit, and it was so fun!

Stories

Sidewalk Paint

And a trip to the Zoo!!

Yikes!

Gracie was brave.

Emma was a little oblivious, but she had fun with Grams.

There were caves to explore, elephants to see wandering around, wolves howling, gophers eating broccoli, and lots of monkeys to see.

What an adventure!
Thanks Grams.

Use up What You Have!!!

I'm scrapping my stash. I must use up what I have, so that's my game plan. Did it stop me from buying a few things I found today.... no, but I'm working on it.

This is an older line from American Crafts, but it 's very bright and fun and useable.

This is from the same line, but I added some Pink Paislee and My Mind's Eye into the mix as well.

This layout features Making Memories papers from an 8x8 pad I had, as well as Simple Stories and Echo Park.

Have I mentioned that I love the look of Instagram photos on layouts? My reasoning? Well, there are lots of reasons, but the simplest is that it's fun to use different sized photos and square photos instead of rectangles...

Mother's Day Tea

Gracie's preschool had a lovely mother's day tea for us last week.

The kids came out to greet us with flowers and brought us in for a great morning of iced tea and beautiful cookies and cake pops. Pretty special!

We got to plant a sunflower to take home and the kids gave us homemade cards and a special thumbprint ornament.

Love my girls.
