Two Quicky Layouts

I have been trying to reach into my stash and use up some things. I seem to keep buying, and I can buy faster than I can scrap, so it's time to use my supplies!!

These were both quick layouts using 3 (3x4) photos. I like printing pictures this size, because it's quick and easy to print 2 pics on a standard 4x6 picture, and they're a little smaller, so I can cram more on a layout with a little bit of white space. Also, thanks to the iphone, I have tons of small, blurry pictures.

These are a series of pictures that Gracie took with my camera. I don't know why, but I love her pictures. They seem to capture little things that would normally be missed. Her love of tiaras, her crazy socks, Emma laying on a change pad (ok, that one is maybe not so memorable, but really, how much time to kids spend getting changed and who has a picture of it??).

And, a few cute pictures of poor Emma getting another headband forced on her head, at much too young of an age :)

Did you notice my favourite grey chevron washi tape on both layouts? Again, making a visual triangle... I should just pre-rip 3 pieces of tape for each layout, I think.

Matching PJs

These two cuties got matching Pee Jammies, as Gracie would say, from my friend, Sam. I had to take a picture before they each grew out of them.
 Pretty cute, right?

And, hangin' with dad in their pjs. We didn't get a matching set for him...

Dad Love

A little early for Father's Day, but I love these pictures of Emma and Brad. We took them at the farm last weekend. I showed one before, but I love them all.

Too cute.

Lost under the bucket hat....

And found :)

And loving it!

May Long Weekend

Family that we haven't seen in far too long, delicious food, and lots of playing in the sunshine!

Gracie got her sidewalk chalk paint that she's been dreaming about since last summer.

Bright eyes here got her own little lawn bed to watch the action from.

Or she could watch the events from her favourite seat, dad's lap.

Gracie tried her hand at farming and told Brad and I that she wants to be a farmer when she gets bigger.

And these cuties wrestled, did crafts, played, swung on the swings, exercised, caught butterflies, and played with a new playground set.

Great weekend.

Washi Tape

Who doesn't love this stuff? So easy and available in every colour and pattern you could want.

Can you spot it on each of these layouts??

Three pieces of grey chevron tape make up a little visual triangle on this one.

A rip of pink polka dots helps my title stand out from the patterned paper it was getting lost in on this one.

And the grey chevron tape made a quick border along the top and bottom of this page.
You'll also see three bonus pieces; one by each picture and one under the title.

PS. Jacqueline, see your doilies?? Still making appearances everywhere!

Grandparents

Emma and Gracie are so lucky to have the best grandparents a kid could ask for.

Of course, I had to scrapbook one layout of the Grandparents each holding Emma.

Lucky little lady.

I know that she can feel their love each time they hold her, talk to her, or even when she hears their voice on the phone.

Emma Update

How cute are her little toes?

And her nose?

And her eyes?

 And that smile?

This is a lifesize shot of her foot.

Okay, enough gushing...

Layout Love

Here are a few layouts I've made lately that I'm loving.

Mostly, because I love the pictures and the happiness and love in them.

Here's one of a hayride Gracie went on at my parent's community hall. She went all by herself, which I thought may lead to some trouble for the poor driver, because they were gone for quite awhile, but she did good.

I love this picture of Papa pulling her off the wagon and the big smile on her face.

This is mostly Glitz Designs papers, with some Bazzill cardstock, MME brads, Tim Holtz film strip and MLS alphas.

This one I made using a leftover sheet from my Carta Bella kit from TM, some Basic Gray and Prima buttons, and some lovely Glitz overlays and stickers.

I just love this picture. Love those cheeks, love that there's actually a picture of me in my scrapbook and love her big eyes looking at the camera.

Playing Outside!!

I love that we are spending so much time outside lately.

It's sunny, it's warm, it's so good to be out of the house!

The kids are dirty and happy and enjoying the fresh air.

Gracie loves a park. Swings, a slide, sand or gravel to play in, tubes to crawl through... basically pure joy for a little girl.

And Emma likes to sleep outdoors. This is her when she woke up from our jog last week.

"Wait... where am I? One minute, I was playing with my keys, and the next, I'm back in the garage and my hats been tampered with. "

Misplaced Creativity

I entered my name into a challenge at the lovely Treasured Memories, my favourite local scrapbooking joint, and they drew my name to participate in a challenge.

I was super excited. The prize was great, I like a challenge, and I was at just the right level of sleep deprivation to be creative when they let me know I'd been chosen.

Unfortunately, things were heading downhill. This was in the middle of the great mouse invasion, I was ridiculously busy, Gracie and I were both sick, Brad was out of town, Emma hit a growth spurt and was up all night.... I was dipping past the creative point of sleep deprivation and into the crazy.

We had two weeks to pick up the bottle and create our masterpieces. I was the last to pick it up... it took me over a week. A little pressure to add to the mix.

No worries, I got my bottle and I went right to it. I started pulling out everything in my stash that I'd collected, hung on to and stored for years thinking, one day, this will be useful.

I saw this dreamcatcher on a scrapbooking blog and thought it was beautiful and it got my imagination working. I would bottle dreams. What a beautiful concept! Perfect.

I immediately went to work that night once the girls were in bed.

This is what my cache looked like. It is also my kitchen table, but you can't really tell, can you?

I started tying, taping, modpodg-ing, glueing, doodling, filling, and ultimately, having a messy good time.

I learned to make a dreamcatcher (sort of... not sure if I would actually catch anything with mine, but it looked authentic to my untrained eye).

I filled it with beads, gems, plastic crowns, and baubles that represented dreams to me. I hung things that resembled my dreams suspended in the bottle.

I topped it with tulle and burlap, wrapped the bottle neck in layers of twine, rafia, feathers, acorns, film strip, and whatever else I could think of.

The back is book paper, and a doily backing an inspirational quote, "She made her dreams into plans."

I thought it was so fun and so creatively stimulating.

Then, I reread the contest rules....

They had mentioned in the write up that the contest was inspired by Alice in Wonderland's Drink Me bottle....

I should have read it more closely, or had a coffee before I read it.

You were actually, supposed to make a bottle to look like what the Drink Me bottle may have looked like in Alice in Wonderland.

My Native American, dreamcatcher bottle really had nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland, aside from the dream connection. It certainly didn't look conducive to drink out of, seeing how the top was covered with almost everything known to man, including a dream catcher.

Oh dear.

Sorry Treasured Memories.

You succeeded in inspiring me, but I did not quite fit in with your theme... at all.

And here are the other bottles, and the winning creation. Congrats Wendy Koebel, a well-deserved win.  Lovely work, ladies.

Thank you for not snickering.

What We've Been Up To

We've been swimming. Both girls love the water, and if we hit the right pools, they're pretty manageable together. Gracie's a fish, so as long as we stay shallow, we're good.

Check out Emma's cutie-patootie new swimsuit!

And her lovely, little leg rolls ;)

And my un-manicured toes...

Try taking a picture in a changeroom, (probably frowned upon) with a phone, hanging on to a squirmy four month old, and keeping an eye on a bouncy 3 year old.... yep, it's blurry, but you can see the full flounce of the tutu here.

And we're gardening! We've been outside all week and Gracie really didn't need to be dressed in all black or long sleeves, although the weather can't make up it's mind, so how is Gracie to know how to dress?

She's all ready gone through a whole pack of sidewalk chalk and has watered everything in sight, numerous times. Grams got her the greatest bubble wands and that's another hit. She can't decide whether to blow the bubbles or pop them. Either way, she ends up trying to do both.

We're enjoying the weather, even if it's crazy. We went for a great run the other day and found a really nice little lake, but it was actually a mud bog. I sent Bailey in to cool off and he sunk up to his belly in stinky, slimy muck. Gross.

We've introduced rice cereal to Miss Emma and she loves it! Surprise, surprise!

She's also had prunes and sweet potatoes. All were successful. She's up to a 1/4 of a Tbsp. twice a day :)

Mmmm...

She's started to pull up her legs and grab her toes, and she loves to blow raspberries. I remember this stage! So cute.
