Edmonton Corn Maze

We headed to the corn maze for some fall fun last Sunday. What a fun afternoon! We spent 3.5 hours playing.

We fed goats, sheep, and baby calves, saw bunnies and roosters and the girls loved them all. Em loved feeding the animals. Gracie loved this goat. They were buddies.

There were giant pillows of air like jumpy houses that the girls jumped on.

And the maze itself. It was a John Deere theme this year and it's so huge you actually do get lost in it.

Brad took his job as group leader very seriously.

We went with Gracie's friend, Leah's family for the second year in a row. It's now our fall tradition.

Leah kissing the scarecrow Gracie to make her flinch.

And this cute scarecrow.... who would she scare off?

This was what it looked like before the crash. All smiles....

A cute little farm couple and their pet cow.

Bale jumping.

Slides.

Performances.

A whole shed full of corn kernels that the kids played in like sand.

Hot chocolate.

Train rides.

And a giant chair.

Seriously. Spend a day there. It's worth it!

Gracie's Birthday!

She's 6! It's official!
I can't believe it! What a fun day we had last Saturday.

We went out for breakfast, she opened presents, then we went to her friend, Kai's awesome birthday party, then on to swimming lessons, out for supper, and to one last surprise shopping trip to the Lego store.
Whew!
What a day!
She loved it all and I have a few pictures to share (okay, a ton of pictures. Bare with me.)

These next two were actually taken a few weeks ago when GG and Granddad were visiting, but I threw them in.

Birthday party extraordinaire! They had pizza and ice cream cake and pop! Holy moly!

She swam sooo fast at lessons! Super sugar-high kicks blasted her through the water!

And we ended the night with a double decker, super-de-dooper chocolate cake extreme, and then asked her to go to bed.... Haha! Of course that didn't happen right away, but she was pretty tired, so she crashed shortly after bedtime (or it was a diabetic coma, I can't be sure).

What a day!

Halloween is coming!

I made a few Halloween plaques to display in Treasured Memories with my kit last month.

This line from Carta Bella is so great! See more of it here.
I love all of the great little images and sayings in this line. They're a little more classically Halloween-y than some lines.

I used some great wooden plaques that my brother made me (he's so handy!) I painted them black and then layered some of the fabulous papers and stickers to make cute decorations that I can hang up.

Are you ready for Halloween? I have costumes for the girls, as long as Emma will wear hers. She may have a costume change in the near future.

She got tangled up in the costume when we tried it on at home and now she doesn't want anything to do with it.....A few more days before the return is due. Haha!

Park Pocket Pages

Park play!

You'd think we live at the park!
Not so much anymore. Gracie's gone most days, and Em and I are sticking indoors until it warms up. Last week was so wet and cold, it gave me a taste of winter. Brrr....

I made these two layouts with paper from the Dear Lizzy line, Serendipity, from American Crafts.
The thickers, some stickers and chipboard pieces are also American Crafts. The stickers are Echo Park paper, cameras and velum hearts are Studio Calico and the puffy stickers are Heidi Swapp.

Bright layouts for a gloomy day

Love seeing some bright colours on a rainy day!

Here's a layout made with Heidi Swapp's line, September Skies, plus some Studio Calico and Basic Gray alphas. Lots of white space here. Sometimes that's tricky for me, but it lets the photos shine.

This layout features Webster's Pages patterned paper, Simple Stories wood veneer, MME sequins, American Crafts thickers and gold tape, and a few silhouette shapes.

Hope you have a magical day!

Gracie's new haircut

Gracie decided she wanted to cut her hair like her cousin Jada so we headed to the salon.

I think I was more nervous than she was. It's a pretty drastic cut and I was worried she'd want it back once it was gone....

Luckily, she loves it! And so do I. She looks so cute and grown up. She even got them to put a green streak in her hair. See it in the picture?

She wanted to donate her hair to help make wigs for cancer patients and was able to donate 9 and a half inches!!

She chopped it off before heading back-to-school and our morning routine has been so much easier!

Tea Party Pocket Page

Tea party with my girls:

I've realized I love soft, muted colours.
Do I have a favourite colour palette? I don't know. I love that new lines come out every few months, because I change my mind about as fast on what colours I love.

I usually use bright colours with the girls because they're always dressed in bright colours, but I love the look of these colours.

A few close-ups:

This was for a challenge at Treasured Memories. We were given this text patterned vellum, the buttons and the silver sparkly tape, as well as the ivory patterned paper I cut a strip of above.

The silver tape through me. I'm not a silver person I guess. Maybe in 6 months I will be, but not yet...

I added lots of my own stuff to it, but I liked how it turned out.

These Girls

My little biker gang. Now when we head to the park, the girls both ride and I have to run along beside them to keep up. Even Em on her little strider bike can move (and is a wild woman!)

Gracie's big bike wipeout this summer didn't even slow her down. She got back on right away and hasn't looked back.

The days are getting shorter. Fall is definitely in the air folks. We're soaking in as many park days and sunshine rays as possible.

Gracie got some new boots for her riding lessons and immediately came up with this ensemble....

Boy that stable will be surprised to see her!

Loving our little everyday moments.
