Little Kickers

Gracie had her first soccer game last week. It was pretty hilarious.

Gracie was amazing in the warm-up. She was kicking the ball, dribbling the ball, and racing around after it, when she was playing with Brad.

Some of the cheering section.

Number 4 - She picked it.... not sure why, but she wanted 4.

Did I mention Brad was very excited about today?  Gracie was the only one with shin pads that fit properly.

Intimidating line up.

Watching her team mates from the team blanket.

Getting the ball out of the net when the other team scored ;)

Coming in for a high five.

Getting encouragement from dad.

Gracie hung back and didn't really get into the fray during the game, but she had fun, and we loved watching her.

She had a few great soccer kicks, and kicked it all the way down the field once, but usually, she let other kids go in front of her, and followed them around, watching from a bit of a distance.

My mom thinks it's because she's got such good manners :)

High fives for a game well-played! Can't wait until this Thursday.

Treasured Memories Layouts - April

This kit was the So Noted collection from Carta Bella.

Very cute. I liked the black with the soft colours. Very nice and very useable.

This company has the greatest texture to their papers. Heavyweight, double-sided cardstock, with a pebbly grain. Quite nice.

Thanks to Tara for this picture of Gracie and her cousin, Paige.

I wasn't sure about the orange-y washi tape, but I like how it looks on this page.

If you want to see them up close, they're on display at Treasured Memories.

A shout out to the store for putting on a fabulous National Scrapbooking Weekend Crop. I joined in on the fun Sunday, with a great friend and we had a wonderful time. I got 6 layouts done, ate too much food, talked about kids, school, scrapbooking, classes, and so much more, and really enjoyed myself.

How to Road Trip with Kids

I'm sure you're all here to get some great parenting tips. You know, because you can tell things run so smoothly in our house and we have such great, creative ideas....

Well, here's a new one.

If your child has gone through all of the toys and books that you've packed, and you still have an hour left before you reach your destination, hand her a kleenex.

Best is a two ply tissue, because then you don't have to offer them two separate tissues.

They will sing and dance for the remainder of the voyage and you will laugh, because they're creative and hilarious, and you're going a little stir crazy yourself.

You're welcome!

Alberta Ballet

Last week, Gracie, Emma and I went to a playdate with the Alberta Ballet. It was a fun day with lots of kids, costumes and snacks. We were missing our buddies who were supposed to come along, but weren't feeling up to it, but we trooped on anyway.

Here Gracie is trying on a costume. Unfortunately, they were all a bit big for her, and she wasn't sold on dressing up like a rat or a milkmaid, but this coat got the ok.

Here she is, practicing her ballet. It's rough, but there's a hint of third position about her feet ;)

This was where things were a little disappointing...the ballerinas that the kids were supposed to dance with consisted of this guy in a blue sweater and jeans. And the orchestra that was supposed to play for them was this gent with a flute.... Hmmm, hard to sell this ballerina to a 3 year old and after much explaining of what an  orchestra was, she was missing the conductor most of all.

But, alas, we had fun. Gracie got a juice box and cookies so she thought the day was fabulous!

Gracie took a picture of Emma and me, despite my best efforts :)

I kind of like this one. Artistic, Gracie. Good shot.

What's new in May

With warmer weather comes Brad's obsession with slurpees.

I'm not a fan and if I did have one, it should be on a screaming hot day, and maybe it would actually be a pina colada type slurpee.

That aside, Gracie had to try the slurpee that Brad brought home the other day. It was colourful, looked sugary, she was in.

Unfortunately, she guzzled it instead of sipping. She knew she wouldn't be allowed much time with the slurpee so she made it count.

Gracie had her first brain freeze, and as mean parents, we thought her reaction was a little hilarious. She couldn't figure out what was going on... We comforted her, but we also took a picture.

We're not always mean... see how happy Emma looks in her exersaucer, chewing on a spit cloth... oops, I mean, I'm sure it was a nice, fluffy blankie...

And we hardly ever let the kids chew off each other's arms. I'm sure this was a kiss.

Let the craziness continue!

But on a side note, how can you people not think these two look alike after seeing this picture? Add some hair, take away some baby fat, and they're twins, in my opinion.

Picnic

We stopped on our travels last weekend for a quick picnic and I snapped a few pictures.

Love that we can finally spend some time outdoors  without being all bundled up!

Yep, a McDonald's picnic.... you thought this was such a nice, wholesome idea until you saw that, didn't you? Busted!

Sisters

These two girls are just in love. Gracie almost smothers Emma with it and Emma laughs for no one else like she does her sister.

I have a ton of pictures of one of them in focus and the other blurry however, because neither keep still very well..

Love between sisters is a special thing. These girls are pretty lucky to have each other.
